This is an experimental forest of the US Forest Service, Rocky Mountain Research Station that was established in 1937 to study the relationship between forest management and water. For over 80 years, Fraser has improved our knowledge of watershed disturbance and water quality. Popular with recreationists, it's used for mountain biking, fishing, hunting (in season only), hiking, xc-skiing and snowshoeing. Caution is advised; it's a working field station with experiments and cooperative research projects."
