Reviews Summary

Visitors consistently praise St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church for its beautiful, solemn atmosphere and the deeply relatable and inspiring messages delivered during Mass. Many find it a peaceful sanctuary offering solace and a strong sense of community. Parking can be a challenge, especially on weekends.

"In May 2024, my friends and I shared a weeklong vacation in Frederick’s Historic district. I’m in the process of converting to Catholicism, and usually go to Mass at least twice a week, I wanted to attend Mass while on vacation too. Years ago, I’d visited the St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church, when I was a secular agnostic, just stopped in to look at the space as a tourist. So it was lovely to attend both a weekday Mass and a Sunday Mass there, now that I’m converting. Some churches just feel like home, even during a short visit. St.John the Evangelist is such a place. And I look forward to my next visit and encourage anyone visiting or living in the area, Catholic or not, to stop by to sit quietly, look and maybe even listen to a Mass. The priests I listened to at St John were compelling in a different way than my current home parish. I also enjoy and find this church’s presence on instagram inspiring, comforting and helpful."
