What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors rave about the stunning panoramic views from the summit and the unique experience of hiking a massive granite dome. The park is well-maintained, and many appreciate the opportunity for stargazing. However, the intense Texas heat and the steep, challenging nature of the summit hike are frequently mentioned drawbacks, emphasizing the need for preparation.
"We purchased our entry ahead of time online and opted for the 6:30am entrance. We just drove right in and put our pass on our car window and had no issues. The hike is short but has a very steep incline. We enjoyed the views very much once we made it to the top. It was still early, but I suggest bringing water and being prepared for the heat. The park itself is maintained well and clean. There are also bathrooms available on the grounds. This is definitely a fun thing to do while in the area."

"Pretty views! Although the summit is listed as a "challenging hike" if youre fit and patient (with plenty of water) it isnt bad. Our 5 and 8 year old were able to do it easily, they enjoyed the climb! There is no shade on enchanted rock, so choose a day or time when the sun won't be as brutal. We did get lost coming down the rock, so take good note of where you are when you enter the top, I think we may have come down the side accidentally. Luckily there are lot of trails all around so we found our way back via other trails."

"Beautiful place for a hike and well maintained park. I would recommend going earlier or later in the day to avoid the Texas heat. This is NOT an entry level hike even though it is a short one. The incline is steep and slippery. Make sure you come prepared with hydration, hiking boots/shoes with traction and weather appropriate clothing.
There are spots to camp for the night or daily hike. Restrooms and showers are available. Snow Cone Trailer is located at the base of the hiking loop and a nice treat for a big hike!"
