The historical value and the presence of mossy logs add unique charm. Some reviewers noted that bird sightings were not abundant and that trails could be muddy after rain, but overall, it's considered an enjoyable and serene natural escape.
"Great little sanctuary for a walk. We made a big loop from our B&B (Kendall Tavern Inn), through the sanctuary and back into Freeport through Bow St. In Foliage season this is an absolutely beautiful walk and everyone on the way was super friendly."
Laura Atkins
"This is a beautiful place with great forests and moss logs then the added historical value makes it even more worth it. My only negative would be that the day I went was after a rain and some of the trail had lots of tall grass. In sure it's just earily in the season. Other than that nice place. It does have a coverd 2 table picnic area"
Charles Cloe
"Great kayak route to porters landing : start at high tide have car at other end"
