The Antique Emporium in Strasburg. Downtown Front Royal is definitely walkable, and the Festival of Leaves is coming (the 11th and 12th, I believe).

Visiting Shenandoah Valley late summer - where to stay for the week?
We will be traveling from Pittsburgh and plan to spend a few days in the NP, and also check out Luray. And the Aboretum is also going to be visited. But would really like a nice town for a home base where we could find (in order of importance) 1. Live music. Bluegrass, blues,…

Many appreciate the historic charm, local shops, and the pleasant town park with its caboose and gazebo. It's seen as a welcoming place, with some noting its LGBTQ friendliness and community events.
"Quaint little town! It was deserted for some reason - maybe it was the rains!!
But the walk across these streets, reading about the towns history, tasting at winery / brewery, clicking pics of what was at offer … it was a great time spent here on our way back from Luray Caverns! A must visit stopover place if you are in this vicinity and take a break at this place. We also spend some time at the outdoor cafe and soaking in the sights and sounds 😍"

"We visited the Front Royal Town Square, located in Front Royal Virginia, for their first and hopefully annual LGBTQ Pride event.
We had a lovely and peaceful day, and there was a wonderful turnout. There were vendors and support that setup for the event and a drag show that was a lot of fun.
The Front Royal downtown area on Main Street is LGBTQ friendly."
