Reviews Summary

Visitors consistently praise Skyline Drive for its stunning mountain vistas and the beauty of the Shenandoah Valley. The fall foliage is a major highlight, drawing many to experience its vibrant colors. While the drive is generally loved, some note the potential for crowds and the winding nature of the road.

"I’m quite blessed to live close to Shenandoah National Park and Skyline Drive. It had been awhile since I had been there. The trees, mountains, birds, insects, and other wildlife are always beautiful. There are so many overlooks, awesome hiking trails, camping areas, and picnic grounds. The best bathrooms coming from the North entrance are the ones at Panorama near the 211/Luray exit/entrance. The entrance fee for a day is $30 for a vehicle, $15 for a motorcycle, $45 for an RV, or $15 per person of you’re hiking or biking. A yearly pass is $55.00."

"Skyline Drive is a phenomenal stretch of road. The scenery is unlike anywhere else in the state of Virginia. The Shenandoah Valley stays true to its name given that at certain overlooks on this ride you will literally be able to see the gigantic valley below you in all its glory. Warren county is the best county in Virginia for many reasons…this drive being one of them."

Xander Farris

"Amazing!! This drive is not to be missed with its many stops and overlooks for great picture taking. Restrooms are available along the route.

There is a charge of $30 for a 7-consecutive day pass. This covers each vehicle and all its passengers. Or, you can use the America the Beautiful annual or lifetime passes for entry.

Arrive early to avoid potentially longer lines and wait time as this is a very popular drive.

Best time to visit is during the peak of the Fall foliage, in October. Also, September through November. Summer can be very cold and Winter can bring cold snowy, wintery weather with the possibility of road closures.

This is a high mountain road with many curves, so for those who are prone to car sickness, consider taking a nausea prevention aid such as Dramamine Non-Drowsy 24-hour relief. Or, Bonine.

Bring a picnic lunch and snacks for a very enjoyable ride."
