What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Adobe Creek National Golf Course offers beautiful scenery and well-maintained greens, making for an enjoyable visual and putting experience. However, many visitors report significant issues with slow pace of play, poor course management, and inconsistent course conditions due to overwatering. Customer service and staff responsiveness have also been points of criticism for some patrons.
"The golf course is in a beautiful location! But it clearly has issues. Unfortunately this golf course is OVERWATERED, not a little, a lot! Holes and mud EVERYWHERE!
Also, it was 2pm and someone turned on the sprinklers DURING play. These customers couldn’t even play.. not sure how the mowers don’t get stuck all the time. The plus side is are the greens are great!"

"Extremely Poor Pace of Play and No Course Management. We had one of the most frustrating rounds I’ve ever played at this course. From the very first hole, every tee box was backed up with three groups waiting at a time. It was obvious that the staff doesn’t enforce pace of play at all.
Towards the end of the round, a group of kids cut in front of us without warning and then complained to the ranger that they were “scared” we were golfing into them. Instead of addressing the fact that they skipped ahead, the ranger acted like it was our fault. When we brought up the pace of play issues, he rudely told us to “be patient” because they were beginners. I love seeing kids learn the game, but that doesn’t mean the rules and pace shouldn’t be enforced for everyone.
We were out there for over 5 hours and still didn’t finish 18 holes — completely unacceptable. To make things worse, another group passed us mid-hole, and their young child (maybe under 10) was running around picking up balls, including one of ours that we were actively playing. Once again, the ranger did nothing.
Save your time and money — this course has no control or respect for its players."

"Truly 2.5 stars. Course was in good condition and enjoyable. However, it seems that there booking and starter strategy lacks the flow of golf. So if you like waiting at every tee box for longer than normal times for a round of golf, this is your place."

👨👩👧 Families with Kids
If you do bring kids, consider booking a tee time during less busy periods, like weekday mornings, to minimize frustration. Be prepared for potential delays and ensure your children understand the importance of golf etiquette. The course's challenging holes can be a good learning experience, but the overall environment might be more suited for families with older children or those who are already familiar with golf.
💰 Budget-Conscious Golfers
While green fees might be competitive, the extended time it can take to complete a round means you're investing more of your day. If you're on a tight schedule or prefer a quick game, the potential for slow play might negate the cost savings. Always check current green fees and consider if the overall experience aligns with your budget for time as well as money. :moneywithwings:

Navigating Pace of Play Issues
It's also worth noting that the course management's handling of player disputes or rule enforcement has been a point of contention. In situations where groups have cut ahead or caused disruptions, the ranger's response has sometimes been perceived as dismissive, leading to frustration among paying customers. Being prepared for these potential challenges and maintaining your own patience can help mitigate the impact on your overall experience.
To make the most of your round despite these potential issues, focus on enjoying the beautiful scenery and the quality of the greens. If you're playing with a group, make it a social outing and embrace the slower pace as an opportunity to connect.
Understanding Course Conditions
However, a recurring concern is the issue of overwatering. Several reviews mention that the course can be excessively wet, leading to muddy conditions in various areas. This can impact playability and the overall aesthetic of the course. Additionally, there have been instances where sprinklers were turned on during play, further disrupting the game.
When planning your visit, it's advisable to check recent course reports or call ahead to inquire about current conditions, especially after periods of rain or if you have concerns about excessive moisture. This proactive approach can help you set expectations and prepare accordingly for your game.
