Things to do in Gainesville?
We’re planning a day trip to Gainesville in a few weeks. We have an 8 month old, and we enjoying hiking, scenic trails, anything like that. Any suggestions for things to do or places to eat? We’re also going to Dahlonega while we’re up that way.

What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors praise Chicopee Woods Nature Preserve for its beautiful, well-maintained trails and peaceful woodland setting, offering a great escape from city life. The variety of trail lengths and clear markings are frequently highlighted as positives. However, some find the proximity of the interstate audible, and the absence of dogs is a noted dislike for some.
"Easy to moderate hiking trails. Length range from 1/2 a mile to 5 miles in length."
Tracy Ann Bobak-Ho
"These trails are absolutely wonderful. It's a great escape from the abundance of traffic and people. A peaceful beautiful hike through the hills. One of the best hiking places I've been to in awhile. There is a $5 entry fee. You place $5 in an envelope at the entrance, tear off your parking tag and punch out the day you arrived. Place it on your dash or hang it from the rear view mirror.
The trails aren't very difficult. There is a rolling your ankle factor due to leaves or possibly slipping on downhill steps - Be careful! A walking stick might be your style and is suggested.
Totally worth a visit. I went when the nature center was sadly closed. However, there are lots of artistic paintings and creations around the facility.
Definitely go!"

"Beautiful forest (aren’t all beautiful?) with well marked hiking trails and designated biking trails. $5 to enter.
I took off 2 stars because, although I hiked several miles/trails, I could still hear the interstate (which is VERY close). I go hiking to get away from that sound.
And also, I didn’t like that I was so close to a golf course. Again another personal preference, as I know they use
50,000+ pounds of pesticides and herbicides a year on a golf course. Unhealthy for humans, wildlife, trees, streams etc."
