What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors rave about the stunning panoramic views, especially at sunset, and the peaceful atmosphere of Horseshoe Mound Preserve. The mowed trails are appreciated for easy walking, wildflower spotting, and birdwatching. Some note the steep and narrow access road as a minor challenge.
"This area was so pretty to visit! I loved the mowed trails and it was so cool to see all the wildflowers and listen and watch for birds! It is such a cool spot for sunset, too!
Google shows it closes at 7pm but it stays open until dusk - which is usually 30 minutes after sunset. So that closing time can go as late as after 9pm during our latest sunset!"

"A stunning view of downtown Galena and the Mississippi. Spend 20 minutes to about 1 hour at this small nature preserve. Find out information about the land trust in Jo Davies county. You can go on a short walk or a longer hike. You will have to drive up a hill to get there. Port o potty is available. Lots of prairie, butterflies, and birds."

"I've driven by Horseshoe Bluff for years and never knew there was a park located here. What a wonderful view! The driveway is really long, steep and narrow, so can be tricky if you meet another car. So nice to drive most of the way to the top, with a short walk once at the parking.
I will be back, I want to see some of the trails as well as the view when the fall colors are out."
