What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors find the U.S. Grant Museum to be a gem, offering a detailed look into Galena's history and its connection to Ulysses S. Grant. The beautifully preserved 19th-century house and the unique lead mine shaft are frequently highlighted as points of interest. While most reviews are positive, some mention perceived political bias in certain staff interactions or gift shop selections.
"The museum was interesting. I would skip the blatantly politically biased speech by the cashier. The rest of the museum presented unbiased facts. Except that the gift shop was also biased."

"What a great little gem of a museum. It's definitely worth the visit before the new museum is built! The mansion is beautiful, and a lot of original pieces and Italian fireplaces are still there. All the exhibits show so much detail about Galena and its history and, of course, the former president. The tour is self guided besides the first introductory presentation by one of the staff. They let you take all the photos and videos you want also. There is also a little gift shop, and it's $15 per adult."

"Lot of interesting displays. Learn alot about Galena history. The lead mine shaft was interesting as well."
