Reviews Summary

Visitors consistently praise Historic Smithville for its charming atmosphere, unique shops, and festive holiday decorations. Many highlight the dog-friendly nature of the village and the pleasant experience of strolling through the historic buildings. While generally loved, some note that it's best suited for a day trip rather than an extended stay.

"We visited around Thanksgiving last year, and the town was beautifully decorated for the season. One thing we loved is how dog-friendly it is—we were able to bring our pup along, which made the experience even better. Just a small note: the restaurant doesn’t allow pets indoors, only in the outdoor seating area. It was a bit chilly that day to dine outside, but everything else was wonderful. We truly enjoyed our time and will definitely be back!"

"💥This a old town area of houses and buildings from the 1800's that have been converted into a village of stores and restaurants.💥

💥Clearly visable from the street.
💥Multiple parking lots
with multiple handicap spots.
💥Property is paved and most if not all of the shops and restaurants are handicap accessible.
💥Multiple stores selling a very large assortment of things.
💥Several restaurants and several food shops covering a range of tasty things.
💥Bathrooms available.
💥Seasonal lake paddle boats.
💥 Children's train ride.

💥💥What really stands out is there are Bed and Breakfasts available in many of these old buildings."

"Such a lovely place to spend a weekend!
Historic Smithville is a peaceful and charming little village — perfect for a relaxing day out with family or friends. We loved walking along the cobblestone paths, checking out all the cute shops, and just taking in the beautiful lake views.
There’s a train ride, and paddle boats that kids would enjoy, and plenty of cozy spots to eat or grab a treat. It has a very laid-back, old-timey vibe that makes you slow down and just enjoy the moment.
A great mix of shopping, strolling, and relaxing — we had a really nice time!"
