"We loved th beach. That said going down with cart with all the things you will need at the beach, as a reminder you have to come back up that hill. It was hard. But I did it and huffed and puffed and stop along the way. While at the beach for anyone where shoes 👟 on the beach and in the water tons of sea shells and take Band-Aids with you. Kids cut there feet on the side and then had to walk up the hill. Very relaxing and then the hill. Did I say hill. HILL . Lol. It's beautiful place to go."

"PARK IS OPEN as of August 2, 2025! It’s beautiful. The playground is small. It was really disappointing. There’s not much to do for the kids. It’s a really nice park, though. There’s one slide, a rope ladder, and a log cabin. There’s a small sidewalk around the playground and a few picnic tables. You can’t really walk around the park. Especially if you have a stroller. You definitely need a jogger stroller. There are also bathrooms by the playground and inside as well."

"Really nice playground, not a local so I can’t really compare the before and after. But they just got all the renovations done and this playground is really set up nice. It has all the necessary equipment, the beach trails and areas are really nice. Definitely worth the visit."

Exploring the Intertidal Zone
When exploring the intertidal areas, it's crucial to be mindful of the environment. Avoid disturbing the wildlife and leave everything as you found it. The park's shoreline is a delicate ecosystem, and responsible visitation ensures its health for future generations. The presence of these species highlights the ongoing conservation efforts in the Puget Sound region.
While the beach itself is a highlight, remember that the terrain can be challenging. The abundance of shells means wearing sturdy footwear is essential to prevent cuts. This is a small price to pay for the opportunity to witness such vibrant marine life up close.
Post-Renovation Experience
The new playground is a particular draw for families, featuring a slide, rope ladder, and log cabin structure. While described as well-equipped, some visitors note it's on the smaller side, which is important to consider for those with very young children. The addition of accessible trails is also a positive step towards inclusivity, though the direct beach access remains steep.
Beyond the new amenities, the park retains its natural beauty. The trails down to the water are still a key feature, offering beautiful views of Henderson Bay. The park's commitment to rebuilding from scratch has resulted in a very beautiful and improved space for recreation and relaxation.
Navigating the Terrain
This steep incline means that direct beach access is not wheelchair accessible. Visitors with strollers should opt for a robust jogger stroller, and those with mobility challenges may find it difficult to reach the water's edge. Despite the challenge, many visitors find the effort worthwhile for the beautiful beach experience.
The abundance of sea shells on the beach, while visually appealing, also presents a practical concern. Visitors are strongly advised to wear sturdy shoes to protect their feet from cuts. This is a recurring piece of advice from those who have experienced the beach firsthand, underscoring the importance of proper footwear for a comfortable visit.
