Wineries in and around

Hello, I am looking for some good wineries around. Napa is a tad too expensive for me, not to mention a bit difficult to travel. Good wines + not too expensive is what I am looking for. If you know of tours, that would be helpful as well. Thanks in advance!

Long shot - a wine that tastes like the magical Malvasia Bianca I had 15 years ago?+

Many many years ago (over 15, if memory serves me right) I had this Malvasia Bianca from Clos Du Bois which tasted good by itself (slightly floral) but turned absolutely magical when paired with a veg pulao (veg pulao is a mildly spiced vegetarian rice dish from India - sort of…

Reviews Summary

Kirigin Cellars offers a historic wine-tasting experience with beautiful grounds and knowledgeable staff, though access can be limited during private events. While many praise the welcoming atmosphere and quality wines, some recent visitors have noted a decline in friendliness, particularly when events are scheduled. Special tastings, like champagne events, are highly recommended.

"My family of 10 (including 3 kids/babies) came here on a holiday weekend. We showed up around 10:30am and easily found parking.
The grounds are beautiful (we saw a wedding being set up) and we were able to snap a few pictures before it was closed off for the wedding.

We ate some snacks and enjoyed some wine in the shaded picnic table area which was great. It wasn't too hot and it allowed our toddler daughter to walk around without disrupting others.

We tasted wine inside. We were quickly greeted and helped by Pam. She was absolutely great. She was very knowledgeable about the wines (educated us about the grapes, tasting notes, and award winning wines) and helped us decide which wines best suited our individual palates. She was very sweet and made us sure we had a wonderful time while still pouring for others (it was busy by the time we left!).

We had a great time and look forward to coming back. Thank you, Pam for taking care of my large group!"

"We’ve been visiting this place since 2019 and used to love it—the first couple of visits were warm and welcoming. But something has definitely changed. We went again in 2024 and now today, Sept 13, 2025, and both times felt completely unwelcome.

Today there was a wedding and everything but the tasting room was closed. I understand private events happen, but it felt like they didn’t care about anyone else. The older woman with semi-short hair was downright rude—when my wife politely asked where to check in (just following the sign outside), she snapped back, “Check in for what? We’re closed.” Then added that we’d have to buy a tasting or a bottle just to walk around. If all the grounds are closed, why even sell access? Just put a sign outside saying you’re closed for an event.

Even back in 2023 we were rushed out around 4:20 p.m. because they were eager to close. Whether ownership changed or not, the friendly vibe we once loved is long gone. Sadly, today was our last visit."

"An Unforgettable Champagne Tasting Experience!

I recently had the absolute pleasure of attending a sold-out champagne tasting with small bites event at our local winery, and it was truly an exceptional evening from start to finish.

Our host, Rob, was simply fantastic. His knowledge of champagne was extensive, and he shared it in such an engaging and approachable way. He managed to keep the entire audience captivated throughout the tasting, striking the perfect balance between being incredibly informative and wonderfully entertaining. You could feel his passion for the subject, and it was infectious!

The selection of champagnes was exquisite, each perfectly paired with thoughtfully crafted small bites that truly enhanced the tasting experience. Every sip and every bite was a delight, and Rob's explanations of the nuances of each champagne made the experience even richer.

It's clear why this event was sold out – it's a testament to the quality of the wines, the delicious food, and especially to Rob's incredible ability to host and educate. I left feeling not only satisfied but also much more knowledgeable about champagne.

If you ever have the chance to attend an event hosted by Rob at the winery, do not hesitate! It's an experience you won't want to miss"
