What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Lobster Creek Recreation Site offers a beautiful riverside location with great fishing opportunities and well-kept campsites. However, visitors seeking absolute quiet should be cautious, as summer months can bring significant noise from logging operations and boat races. While basic amenities are available, restroom cleanliness has been noted as an area for improvement.
"Actually, it's a cute little campground. In August 2025 it was $15, or $7.50 with senior pass. The best spots were taken, but I just wanted silence and not have to sleep along Hwy 101, and a river to walk along. My rating isn't really about the campground itself, but more about what went on around it, by way of a warning. This is one of the noisiest places I've ever stayed, and I totally regretted dropping my money in the box. It was poor timing apparently, as loggers had just started a new project up the road, and those big trucks can be heard for miles, and sometimes they used their Jake brakes and all there was between them and I were some bushes,as the road is right there. It was deafening. This went on for much of the afternoon, and started again early in the wee hours, around dawn or earlier. Also, apparently there is some boat race soon, and there were these tiny little boats racing up and down the Rogue. Each time their engine noise lasted a full five minutes. It was a high pitched noise that ought to be illegal. At first I thought it was some extra loud motor bikes racing on the road, but double the loudness of the loudest. Im noise sensitive, and it was like having a bird-sized mosquito in my brain. It went on for about two hours. In addition, there is a boat ramp that is accessed through the campground, so tons of trucks and rattling trailers hitting the speed bumps, was also noisy. And finally, there was a dog barking nearby, and someone playing a trumpet. None of this is the campgrounds fault, but it is a warning to folks who are looking for quiet, you won't find it here in the summer of 2025. ... On a. Positive, the camp host was very pleasant, and he has chickens. There is water and garbage disposal, and bathrooms, and some of the sides are cute with plenty of space between neighbors."

"So many memories of this place. Fishing is epic here. Best to camp in all of Southern Oregon. We use to jump off the rocks for the tourist on the jet boat rides."

"Well kept. Great camp hosts. I accessed the river by using the day use boat ramp. Wonderful quiet location. Not many campgrounds up the Rogue."
