What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors find the Oregon Vortex a unique and fascinating roadside attraction, though some note the price is a bit high for the size of the experience. The guided tours are generally praised for being informative and entertaining, making it a memorable stop for families and those seeking quirky adventures.
"I was debating between a 3 and 4-star review! Why? Because it was so small, but the uniqueness and family drive to it was fun! Now I agree with most people here, it’s true. You don’t really need a tour guide. However, if you are into getting really educated and don’t mind the hour-plus-long non-stop talk, I recommend that was a little bit overkill, very repetitive, and a tad boring. Definitely the price is not fairly priced, but they do offer first responders and military discounts 🇺🇸You will experience the magnetic phenomenons and other strange things like ghost orbs.
With all that just enjoy the backroads and unwind! Would recommend it for family and friends."

The Science (or Lack Thereof) Behind the Vortex
While some theories suggest magnetic anomalies or even ley lines intersecting, the most widely accepted explanation involves geological formations and optical illusions. The unique topography of the area, combined with the specific construction of the house, creates a disorienting effect that has baffled visitors for decades. It's a place where the normal rules of physics seem to bend, making it a fascinating stop for the curious.
John Litster, who discovered the site in the 1930s, was a geologist and physicist who dedicated himself to studying these anomalies. His work laid the foundation for the attraction that continues to draw visitors seeking a glimpse into the unexplained. Whether you believe in supernatural forces or simply appreciate a clever optical trick, the Oregon Vortex offers a memorable experience.
A Roadside Attraction Icon
Many visitors compare it to the famous Mystery Spot in Santa Cruz, California, noting its similar, yet distinct, charm. The attraction has been featured in various media, adding to its mystique and drawing in those who seek out the unusual. It's a place that encourages visitors to question their perceptions and enjoy the fun of the unknown.
For those planning a road trip through Southern Oregon, the Vortex offers a delightful detour. It's a chance to step away from the ordinary and immerse yourself in a place where the laws of physics seem to take a holiday. The blend of natural phenomena and clever design makes it a must-visit for anyone who enjoys a bit of mystery.
