What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors rave about Genesee Mountain Park for its stunning natural beauty, accessible hiking trails, and the unique opportunity to see a bison herd. Many appreciate its proximity to Denver, offering a quick escape into the wilderness. While some note the lack of amenities at certain trail peaks, the overall experience is consistently described as peaceful and rewarding.
"This place is perfect for a leisurely stroll. We opted for the peak trail, which is a short 1-mile roundtrip. There are picnic tables and a restroom at the trailhead. The parking lot was spacious, and there weren’t many people on the Saturday we visited.
The trail is a well-maintained dirt path with a few steps. There are trees, but they’re sparse along the way, so if it’s sunny, bring a hat or sunscreen. At the top, there’s a US flag and stunning views. Unfortunately, there are no picnic tables or benches on the trail or at the peak.
It’s a great place for people of all ages to enjoy a relaxing walk."

"Only about 30 to 40 minutes from Denver. Feels like you're really in the wilderness. Nice facilities. One site has yurts. Close to Red Rocks and Chattfield Reservoir.
Access to some awesome hikes. Chavez trail and Beaver Brook have mixed levels of challenge and access to creeks and streams, rocks to climb, and wildlife to view. I saw a bear!"
