What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors appreciate Gordonsville Historic District for its charming small-town atmosphere and unique boutique shopping. The pet-friendly nature of many shops is a significant draw for travelers with dogs. However, some visitors have encountered negative experiences with other patrons regarding pet etiquette, highlighting the importance of mutual respect.
"After visiting a day earlier and looking at a painting my wife and I both loved, we drove back from our VRBO south of Charlottesville to come buy the painting. We had our golden retriever who was welcomed in every store we had previously gone into, and the lady sitting on a couch screams across the aisles saying get out dog out of the store as her own dog was aggressive and she didn’t want a scene. Sorry, I love my dog, and I’m sure you do yours, but when someone is coming to make a nearly $1,000 painting purchase, you might want to ensure your dog is behaved or take it in a room until we are done - I wouldn’t expect my customers to not enter. Sadly no painting was had here, but we did find another great one just down the street past Laurie Holliday (great story FYI) that fit our wall quite well."
