What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Hofma Preserve is a beloved local gem, praised for its serene floating boardwalks, abundant wildlife, and family-friendly atmosphere. While some boardwalk sections show wear, the preserve's natural beauty and accessibility make it a cherished destination for creating lasting memories.
"Hoffma Preserve has been a special place for our family for years. My husband and I started going there when we were freshly dating, walking our two dogs — one each — who are no longer with us, but they loved it just as much as we did. It became our special place, and that’s why he proposed there almost 7 years ago. Since then, we’ve returned countless times — walking with our newborn children, and later, watching them explore new trails as they grew.
The floating docks are our favorite; they sway gently beneath you as you wander through the wild, beautiful foliage and natural landscape. The preserve spans approximately 324.77 acres with about 4.5 miles of trails, including an 885-foot floating bridge over Pottawattomie Bayou. There are two main entrances: one at 16295 Sleeper St. and another at 13894 168th Ave., both with parking and restrooms.
The trails are generally flat and well-maintained, making them suitable for strollers and semi-wheelchair accessible. Amenities include picnic areas, a small playground, and restrooms. Dogs are welcome on a leash, and the preserve is open from dawn to dusk.
It’s a peaceful, family-friendly spot that has become a cherished part of our lives, full of memories and natural beauty."

"My dog, Ella, and I went for a walk at Hofma Preserve. It is a nice, clean park with well-maintained trails. It does have a playground there for the kids. In addition, there is a picnic area and grills. The floating bridge to walk across is a great place to see birds."

"A super nice place to hike in any season! I’ve walked through here in the spring, summer and fall, and went cross country skiing on the paths in the winter. Easy to follow trails and beautiful views!"
