Reviews Summary

Visitors find Black Eagle Memorial Island Park to be a nice, quiet spot for a scenic walk with pleasant views of the falls and river. It's appreciated for its accessibility and pet-friendly nature, offering a relaxing escape close to the city. However, some note the lack of shade and reflect on the industrial impact on the natural landscape.

"It's nice and quiet. It has handicap access, with public restrooms and a few picnic tables placed along a well maintained gravel trail. The main point of interest is a view of Black Eagle Falls on the west end and an outlook of the Missouri on the east end where the trail ends. Its more of a senic trail rather than a picnic area. Great area just to unwind. Pets are welcome."

"A mere shadow of what Lewis and Clark laid eyes onβ€”this location provides a solemn reminder of how our need for industry can negatively affect the natural landscape of our once even more beautiful nation. 😒"

Ryan May

"This is a cute little area that helps you get out of the city without really having to leave the city! There are two little lookout areas to view the dam and then there's a gravel loop path that goes around the island. When you get to the furthest point, there's another lookout looking down the Missouri River and a set of stairs leading down to the beach area. The current is almost non-existent right next to the beach, so my kids enjoyed playing in the water for a while! It was really relaxing and a simple walk. Bring sunscreen if you plan on being out there for a little while cause there was almost no shade. No restroom on the actual island, but there are some right before crossing the bridge."
