What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors rave about Grand Caverns, praising its historical significance as the oldest show cave in the US and the unique geological formations like shield formations. The 'Rock Bottom' tour is a standout for adventure seekers, offering an immersive experience. While the walk to the tour start can be steep, the knowledgeable guides and the fascinating 'cave darkness' make it a highly recommended destination.
"What an awesome experience! We were driving around to look at the scenery and saw the sign for this and I'm so glad we went in! They have been doing tours since 1806, and you can just feel how much history there is in the space. Gregory was a great tour guide, I felt like we learned a lot. The hardest part is walking up the hill to the tour start, it is STEEP."

"My husband and I did the rock bottom tour (2 hrs) for his birthday this past weekend and it was one of the coolest things we've ever done on a vacation! The tour was a perfect "challenge by choice" where there were a lot of spelunking challenges you could opt in to inside or simply take the stairs or a rock scramble. We did this tour and then the self guided tour in Luray and this was a million times better. It felt authentic, personal, and like a real adventure. Highly recommend this to anyone up for getting a little dirt on them!"

"A great experience, a true 'immersive', going down 170 feet below ground. A marvelously well maintained cave system though it's not wheelchair enabled, yet. Our guide was lovely & she was able to answer a barrage of varied questions, thank you!
