What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors rave about Grandview Nature Preserve's rustic, natural beach and scenic marshland trails, calling it a hidden gem. Many appreciate the abundance of shells and rocks, and the peaceful atmosphere. Some note the need for bug spray in summer and the lack of amenities, but overall, it's highly recommended for nature lovers seeking a quiet coastal escape.
"What a delightful beach. I prefer a more rustic, natural beach, so this fits the bill. You walk through a nature preserve, maybe half a mile, to get to the beach. We saw ducks and an osprey. The beach itself is not deep, but there is some sand to play in. Best of all, there are lots of shells, including big shells, as well as lots of pretty rocks. Dogs are allowed September 15-May 15, and we came in November. I haven't been in summer yet, but we'll definitely be coming back."

"Such a beautiful place! A walk along a marsh area to a secluded beach area on the Chesapeake Bay. I love the coves as you walk. Its about 2 1/2 miles one way. Ive never had issues with bugs or snakes. This is one of my favorite walks in VA."

"Very nice place for a walk on the beach. Parking is roadside so you’ll probably need to parallel park. I went on a 80° weekend and the only busy area was the section of beach right at the end of the access trail. The rest of the beach I saw only a handful of people. There are a ton of horseshoe crabs and coral washed up on the beaches. You’re also walking right next to a marsh so there’s always a nice view on either side of you. There’s also some interesting rock formations along the coast."
