What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors consistently praise the Harlem Valley Rail Trail for its exceptionally smooth, paved, and flat surface, making it ideal for cycling, walking, and strollers. The scenic beauty, especially during fall foliage, and the convenience of nearby towns for amenities are major highlights. Some minor issues include occasional overgrown bushes and potential confusion with parking signage.
"9.15.24 So parking seemed a bit tricky because GPS brought us here, but signs around the parking area say it's not for rail users. We parked anyway because we did visit Oakhurst and the ice cream shop. But keep in mind that during the fall, this area will be extremely busy. As for the actual biking/walking trail, it's really perfection because it's paved, and in the 25 miles, we rode, not 1 pot hole or crack. It was smooth with just some fallen leaves. A few areas had some overgrown bushes leaning into the trail, but it won't affect your ride. The views are spectacular."

"This was an easy paved walkway, all flat. Perfect for bikes, strollers, dogs, groups, and all ages. Beautiful canopy of trees above to provide shade. Absolutely gorgeous during the fall peak!
The trailhead is located in the center of town, making it convenient to stop into the Harney and Sons tasting room, the diner or the coffee shop for a bite. There is a Chinese restaurant in the same area as Harneys."
