What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors praise Hurricane Forest Wildlife Refuge as a hidden gem with picturesque trails suitable for hiking and biking. The summit views from Beacon Hill are a highlight, and the Pine Drop trail is a favorite for cyclists. However, inconsistent trail marking and very limited parking are common drawbacks that visitors should be prepared for.
"Just to be clear, I consider three stars to be good, four stars to be very good, and five stars to be outstanding.
There was enough parking for at least 12 cars and there were only three there when I got there. When I left there were about eight.
The trails were rolling up and down, no huge problem. There were lots of roots and small rocks in parts of the trail.
My biggest concern was that the trails were not marked as well as some places I've hiked. But I used Map my run to find out where I wanted to go."

"No epic views, but a nice little park for a short run or hike."

"This is a hidden gem in the community. Many miles of trails traversing a picturesque landscape. The view from the top of Beacon Hill is surprisingly long ranging relative to it's modest height. Great for dogs and small children. Be advised that many folks will run their dogs off leash though. The trails are not maintained in the winter but there is enough foot traffic to keep the snow packed down. Parking is minimal. No room for than more than 3-4 cars."
