What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors praise Lake Hickory Trails for its diverse offerings, from the scenic paved Riverwalk perfect for casual strolls to the exhilarating mountain bike trails with jump lines. The seasonal Lake Hickory Haunts is a major draw for its high-quality scares. However, some users point out a need for better signage on the wooded trails.
"Choices! Walk or bike the paved greenway or go off into the woods to ride ( did a walk on the 1 mile loop). Ride my bike and completed the 1.5 mile loop in 15 minutes. It was a fun trail; nothing strenuous. I enjoyed a walk to the lake/riverside too. Poop bags at the beginning of the trail. Well- marked"

"I was excited to try out the wooded trails to prep for the Lightning Bug 5K, but the lack of signage made the experience stressful. I came across several forks that had no markings, which was especially frustrating as a first-time user trying to follow the correct direction, since runners and bikers are meant to travel in opposite directions. I really wish there were more trail markers and directional signs. Once I made it back to the paved greenway, I stuck to that for the rest of my run. I’d love to use the wooded trails more, but right now they did not feel beginner-friendly."
Margaret Anne Russell
"Super fun place! The paved path is great for walking and bike riding, especially for older people who can’t make it to the mountain biking trail but still want the spectacular views. The beginner mountain biking trail is great if you’ve never done mountain biking before but are willing to get into it. It is very bumpy though, so be careful if you are wearing a backpack with stuff in it."

Exploring the Trails: Paved vs. Unpaved
While the paved sections are straightforward, visitors have noted that the wooded trails can be less clearly marked, leading to potential confusion for first-time users. Some reviewers suggest that these unpaved trails might not feel beginner-friendly due to the lack of directional signage at forks. Therefore, for those venturing onto the unpaved paths, it's wise to come prepared with a trail map or a GPS device to ensure you stay on the intended routes and can navigate the different forks effectively.
Lake Hickory Haunts: A Spooky Seasonal Experience
The attraction has also focused on improving the visitor experience, including a brand new driveway and parking lot expansion to make access smoother.
