"I live on High Rock Lake in Lexington. It is beautiful here. Amazing scenery. Beautiful sunrises and sunsets. And a whole lot quieter here than Lake Nowman! HRL is the second largest lake in the state of North Carolina by the way. I see either pontoons, speed boats, fishing boats, sailboats, jet skis, kayaks or paddle boards from my windows on a daily basis. There are Blue Herons, Egrets, Malard Ducks, Cranes, Carmarants, and if you're lucky you might even see the Bald Eagles and Golden Eagles that make HRL their home. I have witnessed flamingos fly in with the carmarants in the Fall! Along with hundreds of Canadian Geese at one time. There are many fishing tournaments held during the year here. If you are a bird watcher this is the place for you! Cardinals, Doves, a Downy Woodpecker, a Red Bellied Woodpecker, Finches, Chicadees, Carolina Wrens and many others visit my bird feeders daily. When Tennessee had those fires a few years ago I got to watch in wonder as water planes flew in and filled their buckets! I have been here 10 years and am still amazed at what I see everyday! Whether you are looking to party or have a relaxful day on the lake this is the place for you! So come for a visit. I promise y'all will want to come back time and time again!"

"High Rock Lake feels so special! It is the perfect blend of fun and relaxation. The “pace” of the lake it just perfect. The lake is large (one of the largest in North Carolina) so there are many places to boat to. You can boat to Goat Island and join the party or boat into a quiet cove and swim and float. You can jet-ski the main channel or take a quiet paddleboard trip into a quiet harbor and search for herons and other wildlife
For those who crave a more active getaway, there is fishing, boating, kayaking, boat rentals, jet skis...Motor to one of the two boat-up restaurants, both full of local colorful flavor, often featuring live music and other events. For those wishing a quiet getaway, wildlife and bird watching is excellent (herons and cranes abundant)!

High Rock strikes that perfect balance of having enough to do, while also not feeling overcrowded. While you will see exciting activity on the weekend, (JetSkis and pontoon boats and motor boats and fishing boats) which lends the weekend an exciting pace, during the week, you will find lovely peaceful lake moments, watching the birds and the occasional boat or fisherman go by.
Even storms are magical at the lake. Sitting on a dock or porch, watching the clouds roll in and then watching the lightning over the lake, truly magical!"
