What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors rave about Busiek State Forest for its extensive, well-marked trails, beautiful natural scenery, and free public access. The creek crossings are a highlight, offering fun and refreshing opportunities. While camping is available and free, some find the nearby highway noise disruptive.
"The only negative is the overnight camping. Lots of highway noise, and if you're a light sleeper, it can be hard to sleep. Everything else is great, clean water tons of places to explore. The hiking is good, well-used trails and miles of them. Only 30 minutes from Springfield. Camping, hiking, playing in the creek, and the shooting range are free to the public! Great for a day of fun"

"Can't believe this is right off the highway and it took me years to finally visit! I went early in the morning and didn't encounter anyone until I was almost back to the parking lot. Decided to trail run the red trail all the way down to the yellow/blue and back. Lovely views and my favorite were actually the river crossings, of which I encountered three. Bring your water shoes. All the trails were well marked and I thoroughly enjoyed myself."

"Beautiful trails, well marked, and strenuous (yellow trail). Great 4.5 mile hike. Came across two water crossings that were a bit of a pain."
