"We stayed in Hilo for 10 days and really enjoyed the tranquility and old-school charm of this city. Our apartment overlooked the Wailoa River State Recreational Park which is so picturesque and beautifully maintained. It's lovely to walk the garden with massive trees and it is close to the town centre, Japanese Gardens and Coconut Island."

"Nice sized spot for the day. Covered gazebo with bathrooms nearby and a beautiful view even in the rain.
It was an awesome field day, even though it was raining pretty hard at points. We got the gazebo to use for the 2024 CQ worldwide Ham radio contest. I hope the folks who showed up had fun, too. Even in the rain, you can't beat a good field day. I want to try more of the parks since this one is in the parks on the air chart (POTA). Not all parks are friendly to hams, but the ones we've been to seemed fine with it. We're always polite and clean things up better than they were when we get there. It's always nice to meet random people who want to know more about radios these days. Thank you to everyone who came out, if you're reading this, and thank you to the DLNR for letting us rent the gazebo for the day."
