Reviews Summary

St. Ann Church is praised for its beautiful architecture and welcoming community spirit, offering a peaceful sanctuary. However, some recent reviews highlight concerns regarding leadership within specific groups and the content of certain homilies, suggesting a mixed experience for some visitors.

"Beautiful gem of a Catholic Church with saint statues and glorious altar backdrop. However I heard a rather misinformed homily by Capuchin Franciscan priest Fr. Martin on St. John Lateran Basilica feast day that was being celebrated on Sunday. It is indeed the Seat of the Pope as the "Bishop of Rome", as stated by the priest, but it is NOT the Pope's seat as the Supreme Pontiff when he proclaims dogma..which is done from the Seat of St. Peter at St. Peter's Basilica. Watch Venerable Pope Pius XII proclaim the Dogma of the Assumption from St.Peter's Basilica on recorded video. Contrary to Father Martin's information, the Basilica is named after both Sts. John the Baptist and John the Beloved. ..not just the Baptist. The original name of the Basilica of the Holy Savior is still honored as seen in the three main statues above the outside entrance...the Risen Savior holding the Cross of victory and the two John's on either side of Christ. But these points pale next to the next theme he preached.
I was shocked when Fr. Martin said Vatican 2 released the Holy Spirit Who was stifled for centuries! What an insult to the Holy Spirit Who was working powerfully in the Church with martyrs and saintly heroes during all those historical times before Vatican 2..... periods of war and crisis..and times of both holy mystics and social and charitable works that were happening in abundance in great hospitals, schools, social service centers, and a time of full monasteries and seminaries ....and all before Vatican 2. The Holy Spirit was certainly not constrained in the life of Padre Pio, St. Pierre Giorgio Frassati, St. Therese or St. John Bosco..or Damien DeVuester and Pope Pius X, and countless others.
So sad to hear such an illogical presentation that in order to express one truth ..someone is compelled to eradicate another truth.... without balance of thought.

It is sad to hear a sermon still locked into the style of the 1970's often misguided misinterpretation of the solid and holy documents of Vatican 2 and their real import and original intentions. Lord have mercy!"

"My experience with the Young Adult group has been negative due to ongoing toxic behavior. Katherine, the group leader, has created drama through her self-centered and careless attitude toward others. There is a pattern of gossip from her, directed at both men and women, that has hindered the group’s ability to foster genuine, trusting relationships.

On several occasions, Katherine has inserted herself into other people’s personal affairs—particularly their dating lives—by trying to play matchmaker in ways that feel intrusive and unwelcome. While she may be dealing with her own emotional challenges, there is a shared concern that boundaries are being ignored, which is affecting the overall health of the group.

Lately, several people have also heard her make remarks regarded as racially or culturally insensitive. Even when casually made, comments like these can be deeply harmful in a diverse church setting—especially to those who are new to the faith and seeking community.

Based on these experiences, I do not view the Young Adult group as a safe environment for building friendships, fostering social connection, or cultivating a sense of belonging. I hope this feedback provides helpful insight to anyone considering joining the group."
