Reviews Summary
Reviews for The Diplomat Beach Resort are mixed, with many praising its prime beachfront location and potential for luxury, especially once renovations are complete. However, guests frequently cite issues with unexpected extra charges, limited amenities due to ongoing construction, and slow service. The resort's beautiful views are a consistent positive, but the overall value is debated due to these drawbacks.
"Do not bother unless you are on expense account or money means nothing to you.
Did not mention the large pool was closed and most of the pool deck was under renovations when booking. The only remaining open pool which is only for wading is closed for a private event at 2:30 on Saturday. So anyone that likes to swim must go to the ocean which has huge waves starting around 9am onwards. Very few pool chairs compared to number of guests. Get to pool first thing or plan to pay for a chair.
The “ada compliant” beach access is a joke. It has a long walk and still 3 sets of stairs to get to beach.
Nickel and dimed everywhere. Beach chairs are behind the paid cabanas which block views of the water. Umbrella cost extra. Tall towers cast shade over beach starting at noon. The cups for water at the pool are tiny sips, pay for bigger cups.
Only got three stars for expensive room with balcony view of ocean, which can be had for less. Water bottles in rooms cost $9 each. If you are paying $600 for a room you would expect at least one free bottle of water! Coffee in rooms is tiny expresso cups and you only get two servings. Want a real cup of coffee? That will be $$ down in the lobby.
Food service at the pool was very slow, only one waiter. Took 30 min just to take order. Not waiters fault but for this level of hotel they could afford a few more staff to be available."

"Beds were small and it didn't feel like the room temperature ever got to as low as we set it. Beautiful view and will only be better once construction is done. I'd come back when the jackhammers are put away. Then the vibe will match the ambience and the service.
Great location, great amenities. Conference was well appointed and was seamless. Convenient to great restaurants. Would love to see how she shines when construction is through."

"Wonderful Stay at The Diplomat Hotel — Especially Thanks to Evelyn!
Our family had a wonderful time at The Diplomat Hotel. The amenities, service, and overall atmosphere were excellent. One of the highlights of our visit was the Kids Club, where my child had an amazing experience thanks to Evelyn. She was incredibly warm, attentive, and engaging with the children — truly a delight to watch her interact and ensure everyone felt comfortable and included.
The only downside was that the Kids Club didn’t have a separate room or enclosed area to better contain and organize the activities for the children. It would’ve made the experience even more enjoyable and relaxing for parents.
Still, Evelyn’s kindness and enthusiasm more than made up for it. She made our child’s time there memorable, and we’re so appreciative of her energy and care. We’d absolutely return — hopefully next time the Kids Club has that separate space in place!"
