Reviews Summary

Visitors consistently describe the Katmai National Park bear viewing day trip as a 'once-in-a-lifetime' experience, highlighting the incredible opportunity to see brown bears in their natural habitat and the breathtaking scenic flights. While the cost is significant, most feel it is absolutely worth every penny for the unforgettable memories created. Some minor issues like flight delays due to weather or mechanicals have been reported, but operators are praised for their professionalism and efforts to ensure the trip happens.

"A day I will never forget. Seeing bears in the wild has been on my bucket list for 20 years and what a way to make that come true.
The day started a little bumpy with us having to go back after the pilot advised the alternator of the plane wasn't charging, so we wouldn't be able to start the place after landing in the national park. We returned to Homer and there was another plane waiting for us.
We promptly switched planes and made our way to beautiful Katmai National Park. Landed on a beautiful beach and from there we got to spend sbout 3 hours with four massive beautiful Coastal Brown Bears. The guide, Sam (the one from Colorado), was very informative, kept us safe and in no moment we were scared.
Another thing that would be worth on its own is the flight, such a scenic flight over islands, eaches, mountains, volcano's and you can even see bears from the plane.
We were in a group of four and we were all mesmerised with the experience.
Thank you so much - definitely worth every cent we spent.

"What an experience of a lifetime! The staff and Sam (our pilot) were excellent. We did the classic day trip to Katmai NP, landing on the beach. We never expected to see the bears up close! The scenic flight was wonderful. This is a well run operation. We highly recommend them if want to see bears near Homer."

"On Sunday June 29th I did the Classic Day Trip with Alaska Bear Adventures with 7 friends. The truth is that both the experience and the treatment of the company towards us was excellent.

The customer service was incredible: Alaska Airlines delayed our flight for 1 day, causing us to arrive in Homer in the early hours of Sunday morning. Alaska Bear Adventures told us not to worry at all and that they would accommodate us on the last tour of the day so that we could rest and enjoy the experience to the fullest.

On the other hand, both the guides and the people in the office were very friendly and offered a professional and friendly service at all times.

The excursion is spectacular: You start with a 1 hour scenic flight until you reach Katmai National Park and Preserve. There, you land on a beach and walk around the national park looking for bears. We were very lucky and saw about 30 bears in the 3 hours we were in the park. The experience is incredible as you see them 100 meters away in the wild. Finally, you take off again from the beach with the plane to return to Homer.

The excursion, although expensive, is totally worth it. If I were to return to Homer in the future, I would not hesitate to take this tour or any other with Alaska Bear Adventures."
