Terry Hershey Park has a great trail for bike commuting. These new 10mph at all times is incredibly dumb.

10mph is still too fast when there's people having picnics in the middle of the fucking path

How do you badasses tackle this slope along Terry Hershey ? It’s the one part between beltway and highway 6 that I suck at.

Shift to a low gear before you start climbing. I always get off the seat on my road bike to get it done faster. Do not stop half way if there is any traffic behind you.

Reviews Summary

Visitors rave about Terry Hershey Park's extensive, well-maintained trails, peaceful bayou views, and abundant nature, making it a top spot for running, biking, and leisurely walks. While the park offers a great escape, some note that cyclists can travel at high speeds, requiring awareness from all users. The heat can also be a factor, so early morning visits are recommended. Reddit

"This place is absolutely amazing — full of rolling hills, bunnies, and beautiful running trails. I actually trained for my half marathon here! It’s always so peaceful. If you prefer to avoid crowds, go early in the morning around 7 a.m. The sun can be strong on certain parts of the trail, so be sure to wear a hat and dress appropriately. I brought my son with me yesterday — he wasn’t up for running, but he still walked three miles with me!"

"We enjoy our daily walks in the park. The nature & wildlife are a pleasant break from the city. My dog loves it when the weather isn’t so hot.
Only downside is cyclists who oftentimes ride in packs & travel way too fast."

Marianne Fanning

"Terry Hershey Park is one of my favorite spots to run in Houston! Located in the heart of the Energy Corridor, it’s the perfect place for long weekend runs. The trail stretches far enough for a full 13-mile run if you go end to end, and the views along the bayou are beautiful and peaceful.

The path is mostly paved with plenty of shade, which makes it comfortable even on warm days. It’s also well-maintained and great for both beginners and experienced runners. I love that it's connected to other parks and trail systems too, so there’s always an option to mix it up.

Whether you're training for a race or just want to enjoy nature and get some fresh air, this park is a gem. Highly recommend for runners and walkers!"
