What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors praise Cowan's Ford Wildlife Refuge for its exceptional peace and quiet, offering a beautiful scenic overlook perfect for contemplation and nature observation. While appreciated for its serenity, some note the lack of hiking trails and basic facilities like restrooms, suggesting it's more of a lookout point than an active recreation area.
"Beautiful, peaceful, and quiet. There are no trails here and no bathrooms, but you can walk the gravel road. The overlook is gorgeous with some benches to sit and ponder all of life and nature. Once you're done checking this out, drive back to Rural Hill like I did and either take a tour or hike their 3 mile loop. Additionally, Latta is also just down the road with lots of hiking options."

"Very quiet and peaceful. Good place to decompress, watch nature, or read a book. Just around a 3 mile gravel road ride to the final location. There is an info hut and a small hut or shelter overlooking a lake, bushes, and trees. Not a good place for a hike, unless you park at the beginning and walk the 3 mile gravel road. No restrooms."

"We call this place the sanctuary as it's a great place to go and escape the city and take a break. There are no trails, but a beautiful short walk to a breathtaking view. Take some time out to meditate, take some pictures, and enjoy nature. Half the fun is getting there, and the tree covered roads and open fields you see on the way in are worth the little drive."
