Anyone ever been to Crane Estate/Crane Beach in Ipswich?
Going to head up there tomorrow and wondering what the vibe is like. The parking situation seems to be a little weird these days. I was able to get a pass for the estate but the beach parking passes are sold out. If you park at the estate can you just walk to the beach or are…

Heading to Crane Beach for the first time this Saturday. What are your "must go to" places for sites, food, etc.
Looking to explore that area a little bit with my girlfriend after we go to the beach for the day. All suggestions are appreciated... looking for good food, cool sites to visit, shops, etc. - basically anything to do in that area!

What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors rave about the Crane Estate's breathtaking views, stunning architecture, and rich history, calling it a 'gem' perfect for exploration and picnics. The expansive grounds and proximity to Crane Beach are major draws. However, some find the accessibility challenging due to steep inclines and gravel paths, and beach parking can be difficult to secure.
"My friend and I were visiting Maine for his sister’s wedding and on an off day, we were deciding what to to and this place popped up in Ipswich. It was so very much worth the drive and adventure. It was a beautiful day and even though we missed out on all of the tour times, everything was still so very wonderful. You can explore the first level of that manor without issue and all of the grounds. Well worth your time. Make sure you walk along the beach - you wont regret it"

"I cannot emphasize enough that you should wear comfy shoes, bring water, and take your time. The name should give it away but if you’re not from the area (like me) you wouldn’t know that the estate is really built on a HUGE hill. Several hills actually. It is not for the weak if you choose to see more than the house😅
Just wow 🤩 the views, the architecture, the history, and stunning landscape. You could spend the entire day here exploring or having a picnic. It has some amazing spots for a special occasion or proposal 😍.
It was only $10 to get in per car unless you are a trustee.
If it’s open (which it was!) you can explore the first floor of the 59 room estate. You can see the upper floor(floors) for an additional fee.
We will definitely be going back to do the whole tour but we ran out of time that day. So I’m not sure what the price is for the whole house tour. But to walk/hike the grounds is just the $10 per car.
There are some tables and chairs so you can sit and enjoy the scenery.
There is a little gift shop with 20s everything you could imagine 🤩 very pricey but that’s to be expected.
Definitely worth the trip to explore some beautiful scenery and to see a piece of history."
