What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors generally praise the Ithaca Commons for its vibrant atmosphere, diverse shopping, and excellent dining options, with many highlighting the exceptional customer service at the Marriott. Some minor drawbacks include parking complexities and occasional issues with hotel amenities or staff responsiveness, but the overall experience is highly recommended for exploring downtown Ithaca and the Finger Lakes region.
"I’ve always had positive experiences with Marriott, which is why I felt comfortable subleasing my apartment to someone work here as a room attendant. Unfortunately, that turned out to be a mistake.
This individual failed to pay rent, didn’t show up to return the keys on the agreed date, and left with a very concerning attitude, even saying “come heavy” when I asked about key handover.
This experience made me question the kind of people being hired to work in housekeeping. I’m not saying every employee is like this, but it’s definitely a cautionary tale. Be mindful—you never really know who’s entering your room.
Disappointed, especially since my decision was based on past trust in the Marriott brand."

"We had a wonderful experience at the Ithaca Marriott Downtown on the Commons while celebrating my wife's birthday and using it as our home base to explore the Finger Lakes. From start to finish, everything exceeded our expectations.
Check-in was seamless, thanks to Christina, who truly embodies exceptional customer service. She went above and beyond to upgrade us to a beautiful corner room, arranged an adjoining room, and consistently checked in throughout our five-night stay to ensure everything was perfect. Her attention to detail and care made us feel genuinely valued.
Breakfast at Monk's was another highlight—delicious food with generous portions and a great variety to choose from. Brittany and Arria, who welcomed us each morning, were both incredibly warm, attentive, and friendly. They made each breakfast feel like a treat and added so much to our stay. We didn’t have a single bad meal the entire time.
If you're planning a trip to Ithaca or the Finger Lakes region, I highly recommend staying at this hotel. The service, location, and overall experience are truly top-notch."

"I really liked this particular Marriott. It is convenient to Cornell University. The Front Desk clerk on duty, Chistina W., was very welcoming and warm to my extended family and I. I had a corner room with 3 windows, so it was flooded with light, and I had a nice view of a creek. The room and bathroom were very clean and comfortable, and I got a great night's sleep. The restaurant in the hotel made very good burgers. The only small criticism I would have is that the gym is in the windowless basement and very small. It felt a little torturous to work out in there. They only had 3 treadmills, one of which was broken. Also, the bathroom in the room had a sliding pocket door, which although space saving, didn't do much to dampen ahem bathroom sounds. Neither of these things were deal breakers, though.
PS: Please tip the housekeeping staff at the end of your stay. Just fold some cash into a note with a "thank you" on it and leave it in your room. Those are some hard-working, pleasant folks!"
