What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Six Flags Great Adventure offers a thrilling experience with world-class roller coasters and a well-maintained park. Visitors praise the variety of rides, friendly staff, and clean environment. However, some find Fright Fest to be an expensive add-on with long lines, and food prices can be high.
"This was a pretty cool experience! It was my first time there and I went with a friend that I know of. There was this one staff member in the Justice League ride that was just awful to my friend and they told me it wasn't the first time either. Pretty neat rides and wish I was around whenever Kingda Ka was still there that's the type of ride I've always been looking for but it was gone by the time I got here.
I really love the rides I've only been on a few so far though. I went during Fright Fest and I rode El Toro a few times, Flash, Justice League, Superman, the one in the mountain, and Jersey Devil. It's pretty fun and very different from Six Flags over Texas. I love comparing the rides for the ones that are the same but named differently the only one that is the same from Texas is the Joker oh and slightly Justice League. And with how big this one is this park I would get lost I don't know how people do it without a map the one in Texas though I know that one like the back of my hand."

"Six Flags Great Adventure in Jackson, New Jersey, is an exhilarating destination packed with world-class roller coasters, family rides, and lively entertainment. From the record-breaking Kingda Ka and the legendary wooden coaster El Toro to the sleek speed of Nitro, the park offers nonstop thrills for adrenaline lovers. The grounds are clean and well-organized, with friendly staff and a variety of food options—though prices can be a bit high, as expected at a major theme park. Crowds can get heavy on weekends, so visiting on a weekday or using a Flash Pass helps make the most of your day. Overall, Six Flags Great Adventure is a must-visit spot for anyone seeking heart-pounding excitement and a classic amusement park experience in New Jersey."

Navigating the Thrill Rides
When planning your ride strategy, consider purchasing a Flash Pass. This optional add-on allows you to bypass the regular queues, significantly reducing your wait times, especially on busy days or during special events like Fright Fest. Without a Flash Pass, be prepared for potentially long waits, particularly for the most popular coasters. Checking the park's app for real-time wait times is crucial for efficient ride planning.
Beyond the major coasters, Six Flags Great Adventure also offers other exciting rides like Batman: The Ride, a classic inverted coaster, and Wonder Woman Lasso of Truth, a towering pendulum ride. The park's layout can be extensive, so familiarize yourself with a park map or the mobile app to efficiently move between ride areas and minimize backtracking.
Experiencing Fright Fest
It's important to note that Fright Fest often requires separate tickets or passes for its haunted attractions, which can add significantly to the overall cost of your visit. Many visitors have noted that without purchasing these additional passes, experiencing the full Fright Fest offering can be challenging due to long lines. Some guests have expressed that the cost of Fright Fest attractions, combined with the general park admission and potential need for a Flash Pass, can make it an expensive outing.
If you plan to attend Fright Fest, arriving early is highly recommended to maximize your time and potentially experience more attractions before the peak crowds arrive. Be prepared for a high-energy, potentially overwhelming atmosphere, and consider purchasing any desired haunted house passes in advance to save time.
Dining and Amenities
Amenities at the park include restrooms, which are generally clean but could be more evenly distributed. Refill stations for drinks are spread throughout, though some visitors have noted occasional unpleasant odors. If you're looking for dining options outside the park, Mammoth Lane, located nearby, offers a selection of fast-food and dining choices that might provide better value or variety.
The park's waterpark, Hurricane Harbor, is often mentioned as being crowded and may not be the best option compared to other waterparks in the tri-state area. For those considering a season pass, the Gold Pass is often highlighted as the best value, with the Platinum Pass offering additional perks but at a significantly higher cost.
