What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Iron Pier Beach is appreciated for its peaceful atmosphere and the opportunity for long walks along the shore, especially towards Hallock State Park Preserve. The sunset views are a major highlight, offering a serene end to the day. However, parking restrictions for non-locals during peak season and occasional facility limitations are noted drawbacks.
"This is a great community park. We were visiting a friend just up the street from this park and walked there twice each day while visiting. The park has lots of garbage and recycling cans plus fishing wire/hook containers. There is even a sun lotion dispenser.
The beach is your normal sand and small colorful stones. It’s a nice beach but the best thing is that you can walk for miles to the east. We walked down to Hallock State Park Preserve a couple of times. From there you can walk up to the preserve which has a few miles of trails in the woods and along a vineyard for part of one of the trails.
Parking is for locals only but I don’t think it’s an issue in the off season. We were there in late September and the parking lot only had a few cars in it each time I was there. The bathrooms were locked but the showers still worked. There was a porta potty by the children's playground but it didn’t smell good even from a distance away. I’m not sure if it’s maintained in the off season but it didn’t smell good.
There is an off road trail to the beach but by permit only and in between the high and low water marks. It’s closed from May 15 to September 15."
