What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors praise Quail Springs Picnic Area for its incredible stargazing opportunities and scenic desert views, making it a prime spot for astrophotography and enjoying the night sky. While the picnic facilities and restrooms are appreciated, some reviewers note issues with restroom maintenance and light pollution from passing vehicles impacting the stargazing experience.
"We parked here at sunset to wait for the stars to come out. Great that there is a vault toilet. Nearly a full moon so no Milky Way, but very bright stars and a few planets were visible within an hour of sunset. Good spot to stargaze."
Jesse James
"This was my first time here, and it was great. I understand the vault bathrooms aren't ideal, but they get the job done. We remained near the picnic area, and the scent from the bathrooms was not pleasant to have so nearby the tables. It didn't help having a lot of people coming in with their bright car lights and flashlights and ruining stargazing for those who were trying to do that. I recommend going further in to enjoy stargazing, and I recommend a red light flashlight for people to use 🔦"
Alejandra
"Very nice area and a good place to relax with food and drinks. There are restrooms but very bad maintenance. No water facility. This place can be maintained much better."
