However, some find certain trails challenging due to steepness and loose rocks, impacting accessibility for those with mobility issues.

"Enjoyed all the buildings and see the old furnishings inside. The Rangers were very polite. Half of the trails were paved but the trails leading to the lower buildings were not. My mom had a handicap scooter and was not able to get down there."

Bryce Padgett

"We went to the lantern tour and it was a blast! Big thanks to the volunteers who made it happen! We really enjoyed learning about the Jarrell family!"

Erica Ramsey

"Very nice historical site. Nice visitor's center, gift shop, & clean bathrooms. The visitor's center has a great overview film that explains the site's history & the family's history which was a great start to our self guided walking tour. The walking trail with map gives good information about the buildings and the building plaques completed the information. We met the Park Ranger on our walk & he was very knowledgeable. He walked us through one of the early homes (where Maddie lived until 1950s) and gave me extra information abouy her life that wasn't in the movie. It was very interesting.
The goats & chickens were nice to see. The goats looked fat & happy. The rooster was beautiful & had the run of the place. They didn't pay much attention to us. 😂
My husband likes history so this was a nice stop for both of us.
Be aware that the trail has some steep areas with lose rocks so anyone with walking challenges should be aware."
