What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Mount Jumbo Trail offers stunning natural beauty, from challenging summit climbs to scenic meadow walks. Visitors praise the rewarding views and the accessible Treadwell Ditch Trail connection. However, some find the summit hike relentlessly difficult with tricky footing, and trail conditions can be impacted by weather, requiring preparedness.
"Several portions of the trail have been washed out or damaged during recent storms, but the trail is still passable. It is a very beautiful trail trough forest and muskeg until you reach the Treadwell Ditch Trail. After that the trail gets more challenging if you are climbing to the top of Mount Jumbo. Otherwise, when you reach the newly upgraded Treadwell Ditch Trail, you will have an easy and very enjoyable hike. As you continue, the trail also connects with the Gastineau Meadows Trail, offering several entrance and exits through Douglas Island ☺️"

"Mt Jumbo itself is a beast, even for good hikers. It isn't the relentless uphill: it's the f-ing tree roots that you climb over, the patches of slick rock. It's relentless. You can never look around and enjoy yourself because the trail is constantly trying to knock out your front teeth. The top is gorgeous and wonderful... and then you blow out your knees going down. However... if you want a quick and dirty hike with just enough uphill to engage your glutes and make you feel like you left the house, you can hike from the trailhead TO Mt. Jumbo. It takes you across a spectacular stretch of muskeg with a view of Gastineau Channel. In rainy or winter weather bring microspikes for the boardwalk."
