What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors rave about the Pu'u Ma'eli'eli Trail for its absolutely stunning summit views and unique historic bunkers, making it a highly rewarding hike. While generally considered easy to moderate, the trail can become quite muddy and slippery after rain, requiring caution and good footwear. Some find it a bit too short or easy, but the payoff at the top is consistently praised.
"It's an easy but challenging hike. The time i went was when the rain just stopped and boy it was muddy.
Still manageable there's a rope that you can hang on to, when you hit a junction just go left and keep on going until you reach the wooden sign. Going back down is the challenging part but that's what the rope is for. The view is amazing!!!"

"This is a beautiful trail. Easy to moderate out and back. The view is gobsmacking gorgeous. Good trail for little adventurers. We took our babies (4, 3, & 4mos) and they made it to the end, not without complaint, but they made it!
Carry the babies in a carrier that don't have their legs. Not for strollers or anything that rolls.
Use caution after a rainy day or rain. The trail opens with a muddy ascend. Ropes to help you make it up.
There is a small rope section toward the end to help you up if needed. The rope ends at the rocks, you will be climbing rocks. A little sketch & challenging for the littles, but it's okay.
Careful of the old spider webs in the bunkers if you decide to venture in. Very fun."

"Trail is quite fun and easy, up to all levels - although quite disappointing considering previous comments, it's too easy and short.
There are some challenging steep ramps but nothing too crazy.
A well shaped person can run this trail and have some fun.
Trail took me 50m go and back from the parking lot + another 15m i spent at the end point - views are worth it"
