While it offers an intriguing glimpse into history and a free, entertaining experience, visitors should be aware of potential safety hazards like debris and the need for sturdy footwear.
"Not much to see here but an abandoned castle in the middle of a mixed residential neighborhood. Originally a workhouse for prisoners serving a jail sentence and built over a century ago, its been left to vandals and is now full of graffiti.
I visited at night and positioned my vehicle so the headlights face the front entrance for some lighting. Great place to take pics. Its a different feel when it's just you and the sounds of nature in the forefront and the sound of urban living in the background.
It was not fenced off when I visited last night, but reading that homeless and transients have used it as an encampment, I didn't want to step in anything foul while walking on the lot.
I enjoyed my night visit and got some great pics that looked kinda spooky."
