I immediately spotted some scenes from Jurassic Park on this hike…🦖 💧Hoopii Falls Trail 🥾1.8 miles, only 150ft elevation gain Lots of up and down, can be very muddy, so wear appropriate shoes! I wore chacos which caused a few slips, but was great for swimming and rope swinging! Save for later and send to your buddy you want to take to Kauai!! 🌺 Tea and coffee: Mokihana @mokihanacoffeekauai B...

Reviews Summary

Visitors praise Ho'opi'i Falls Trail for its beautiful waterfalls and lush jungle scenery, often compared to Jurassic Park. The rope swing at the main fall is a highlight for many. However, the trail can be very muddy and poorly marked, making navigation challenging. Some also advise caution regarding swimming due to potential water quality issues.

"The trail was well marked & easy to navigate. It did not seem busy to us & for the most part the trail was wide enough for people to walk single file both directions. The parking was full near the trail head but there was plenty of parking at near by baseball field. Going to the second water fall is a must and there are cut offs on the trail if you want to explore the stream in different areas. There is a nice area to jump into the water at the first waterfall but we choose to heed the advise of AllTrails & not get into the water due to possible bacteria."

"Parking down the road at the park. It’s been a few days since rain so trail was pretty dry and not slick. Locals did yell at us for talking at the start of the trail at 7am so don’t talk at the trailhead if you start early. It was nice to have the place to ourselves early. If you go off all trails you can take the right fork right before the overlook to avoid climbing up the rock face to get back to the trail. Definitely involves climbing around a couple times but do able and fun. If a 43 and 65 year old can do it?

All trails said water is not safe to swim due to leaky septic tanks above it. We did not swim.

2 falls and it looks like you can actually follow the river to the first falls then hike up a bit and take a left to get back on the big main trail.

Used the all trails map and downloaded it made it easy to navigate as a few of the trailheads have changed and they only want you to use the one closest to the parking that you first come to and is marked with an arrow."

"Fantastic waterfalls! Beautiful scenery. You can swim at the end and jump from a rope swing, it’s so cool! Definitely follow the AllTrails map though because it’s easy to get lost and hard to find the right starting point without it. There’s two cool waterfalls along the trail. Getting down to the last one is tricky but worth it. Hold onto roots. Expect muddy and slippery conditions. I slid but it didn’t hurt. Just be careful! So worth it."
