The beautifully restored locks and the friendly, knowledgeable lock tenders are frequently highlighted as major draws. It's a peaceful and historically rich experience, perfect for boaters and history enthusiasts alike.

"This is truly one of the most unique features of the Fox River Valley, and honestly, it’s a bit of a hidden gem. The Fox River Navigation System Authority manages something that feels both historical and underappreciated. From the beautifully restored locks to the peaceful boating routes, it’s a part of the region that deserves way more love and attention than it gets.

We traveled all the way from Little Lake Butte des Morts down to the Little Chute locks, and we enjoyed the entire lock system the whole way through. All of the locks have been beautifully redone and are maintained wonderfully. The lock tenders—whether stationed at a particular lock or traveling along with us—were incredibly friendly and helpful. Their enthusiasm and knowledge really added a personal touch to the whole journey.

Not only is the route scenic and relaxing, but you’re also traveling through a piece of living history. The restored locks give you a direct connection to the region’s past while providing a smooth, enjoyable boating experience today. Whether you’re a local or visiting from out of town, this is an unforgettable way to spend a day on the water.

Highly recommended to anyone who appreciates history, boating, or just exploring something unique in Wisconsin."
