What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors praise the Monolith Garden Trail for its unique volcanic rock formations and beautiful desert scenery, especially during spring when wildflowers bloom. The trail offers a good hiking experience with well-maintained paths after the initial rocky section. However, the lack of shade and the presence of loose rocks require careful preparation, and some hikers have encountered intimidating livestock.
"Nice trail, watch for coyotes and cows, there's plenty of both. Bring lots of water, there's no shade. The trail is pretty level, not too bad with inclines and declines. Lots of ankle breaking rocks though, bring good shoes. Probably not the best trail for people with walkers or other multi-legged mobility aids. I only went about a mile before I turned around due to the heat"

"Beautiful place to hike! I’ve been here twice, once in mid November and again mid April, and will be back again. April is good for viewing all the blooming cactus and other various wild flowers. Bring sturdy shoes and plenty of water. If you don’t have a trail app of some kind there is a good map at the parking area you can take a picture of and use to help guide you."

After that short walk it becomes very smooth. It is well maintained and has signs to keep you on the trail you like.
Monolith Garden trail is close to 10 miles long, but there are many shorter trails in the area.
Lots of scenic areas and the lava rock formations are beautiful.
Don't turn back too soon, you'll be rewarded greatly with patience."
