What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Sugarloaf Dune offers a prime beachfront location at a competitive price, with direct sand access and a convenient pool. While many appreciate the value and responsive text communication, some guests have encountered issues with cleanliness, maintenance, and parking. It's best suited for travelers prioritizing location and affordability over luxury amenities.
"We rented two rooms for the weekend and on arrival we went to rooms and as you open the doors the musky mildew smell about knocked us out in both rooms.
After contacting hotel through text, they moved us to 2 more rooms and one room was fine but the other had the musky smell also and sand bags at the door. We messaged the people again and they moved us from a king room to a double room with no kitchen and no sink in bathroom. The bathroom was on the opposite side of the wall near the beds. They put us on the second floor, they DON’T have an elevator, without asking if we could climb stairs. The air conditioner didn’t work good and the hot water didn’t get hot in shower. My mother was awaken the next morning by construction happening in the room above her. They had power tools and hammers just a going. We had about 3 hours before checkout and had fished all night on pier. When we complained to the front office, the girl said she would give us about 30 minutes to get woke up so they could work putting the floor in upstairs. This place has no respect for people staying here. They like to cater more to the regulars that stay all the time, that came the mouth of one of the guys that stays at least once a month to fish. Needless to say that this is NOT a 4.5 star hotel or like 2.5!!
For what we paid we expected to be treated with some kind of respect but we were not!!"

"We liked this place for many reasons! The price was great and much less expensive than Florida for a beachfront stay. The room had a nice balcony. I wouldn't recommend the second floor if you're 5'3-5'5. The railing perfectly blocked my view and I had to stand or sit like a hunchback but that's not their fault.
We loved the housekeeping arrangement. The do not insist on cleaning your room daily and rather have a fairly good system in place for any linens or garbage taking-out that may need to be done. You just leave them on a chair outside your room and everything is replaced.
We were there for six nights which lists a required full room cleaning on day four but I was stoked when they asked me if I wanted it to be done at all. The communication is all through text and they are SO responsive!
The pool was perfect and the water in the shower was really hot.
I would definitely recommend this place if you're looking for a laid-back getaway, it's perfectly simple!"

"If I could leave zero stars I would. First off this place is infested with cockroaches. Started in room 220 and found some roaches in the shower went to management and they moved us to room 321. A day or two later after getting some new towels brought up that night someone who was with me said they had a roach slide over their foot and found another one inside the towels and went down to talk to management again and they had to call the manager and offered $75 off a $1200 stay. I thought they were joking apparently not. When we were in 220 the room smelled musty and paint was peeling in the bathroom. In 321 that whole level smelled like rotten eggs and there were stains on the ceilings and walls. The bed sheets in both rooms felt damp like they were taken out of the dryer without being fully dried and felt weird. Parking absolutely sucked especially if you have a truck. The parking is so damn tight more so in the pretty much nonexistent back parking area. My dad scratched his truck trying to get out with barely any room to get out. So long story short if I’m ever at this beach again I’m definitely not going to stay here please do yourselves a favor and DON’T STAY HERE unless you want to wake up with a cockroach staring back at you."
