Reviews Summary

Victoria Beach is lauded for its unique Pirate Tower and beautiful, secluded atmosphere, offering a magical experience, especially at low tide. However, access can be challenging due to steep entry points and tricky parking, and the lack of amenities like restrooms is a drawback for some visitors.

"We call it Pirate Tower Beach. The tower is fun to see. You can’t climb it or go in it, but it’s worth checking out. It’s to the right of the beach. You see tide pools and walk over rocks to get there.

The beach is hard to find the first time you go there. Silver lining is that it keeps the beach less crowded. You park on PCH. You go in through the neighborhood, down stairs or a ramp. The ramp is pretty steep. I wouldn’t recommend bringing little kids/strollers. There are no bathrooms. We were there over Memorial Day weekend and there was a lifeguard. If you have little kids, better to go south to the beaches below The Montage.

It has to be low tide to get to the tower. Definitely look up when low tide is before you go. There’s a pool on the way to the tower. I’ve only seen the pool filled with water once. Be careful of big waves because that’s how the pool gets filled.

It’s a beautiful spot. I highly recommend checking it out if you’re in Laguna Beach."

"Beatifull beach and acces to pirate cove.
Its long beach BUT you cant walk acros and exit back to road. There is only one patch where you can come and get out.
We walked to another side and there is privat community and gate so you cant exit there."

"We heard about this beautiful beach and the historic castle nestled by the cliff, so we decided to check it out. We managed to find parking in the neighborhood, which was convenient. There are steps leading down to the beach, and reaching the castle requires some walking on loose rocks, so it's important to be cautious as they can be slippery. During high tide, the water and waves can reach quite high, so keep that in mind. The castle itself is stunning, and I wish there were more information available about its history. The beach is very clean, but the shallow waters are rocky and may not be safe for swimming. Overall, it was a lovely visit!"

In-depth insights and expert knowledge

The Enigmatic Pirate Tower

The most distinctive feature of Victoria Beach is its iconic Pirate Tower, a 60-foot tall stone structure built in 1926. Inspired by fairytales and pirate lore, it served as a private lookout for the former owner of the cliffside mansion. TikTok While you can't enter the tower, its whimsical architecture makes it a highly sought-after spot for photos and a symbol of Laguna Beach's unique charm. TikTok Access to the tower is only possible during low tide, so checking the tide charts is essential for a complete visit. Reddit Be prepared for a walk over rocks to reach it, and keep an eye out for the small pool that sometimes forms near its base. Reddit

The tower's fairytale-like appearance has led many to nickname the beach 'Pirate Tower Beach'. Reddit Its presence adds a touch of magic and mystery to the already beautiful coastal scenery, making it a memorable landmark for visitors. TikTok

Navigating Access and Parking

Victoria Beach is known for being a bit of a hidden gem, which contributes to its less crowded atmosphere but also makes access a key consideration. The primary access point is via a steep ramp or a set of stairs located near residential properties, such as 2713 Victoria Drive. TikTokReddit This steep descent means it's not the most stroller-friendly or easily accessible beach for those with mobility challenges. Reddit

Parking is another aspect that requires planning. Visitors typically park on the surrounding residential streets. It's advisable to arrive early in the morning or later in the afternoon, especially on weekends, as parking spots can fill up quickly. Be mindful of any posted signs regarding permit-only parking zones to avoid tickets. TikTokReddit Once parked, follow the signs for beach access, and be prepared for a short walk to reach the sand and the iconic Pirate Tower. Reddit

Beach Experience and Amenities

Victoria Beach offers a beautiful stretch of white sand, perfect for relaxing and enjoying the ocean breeze. The waters here are generally rocky and can be unpredictable, making it less ideal for casual swimming compared to some other beaches in Laguna. Reddit However, the rocky areas are fantastic for exploring tide pools during low tide, where you can discover a variety of small marine creatures. Reddit

It's important to note that Victoria Beach is a natural beach with limited amenities. There are no public restrooms or showers directly on the beach. Reddit Visitors should come prepared with everything they need for their visit, including water, snacks, and any necessary personal items. Despite the lack of facilities, the beach's natural beauty and the unique allure of the Pirate Tower make it a worthwhile destination for many. Reddit
