What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Baby Beach Pu'unoa is overwhelmingly praised as a fantastic spot for families, especially those with young children, thanks to its incredibly calm and shallow waters. Visitors also rave about the opportunities to see sea turtles and enjoy beginner-friendly snorkeling. The main drawbacks are limited parking and the lack of on-site amenities, requiring visitors to come well-prepared.
"Visited Baby beach whilst we stayed in Lahaina with my partner in May 2023. We both loved it the conditions were perfect for snorkeling and swimming. Baby beach is perfect for kids and beginners for snorkeling, the variety of fish species that you can see is amazing. Saw Green sea turtles one swam past me whilst snorkeling just a couple meters away, a sight I will never forget. I wished I got it on camera but went into the sea a day or before and forgot my cell phone was in my pocket, It's fair to say my cell phone didn't like that. We walked along the beach which was lovely with views towards the island of Lanai which were beautiful. There isn't alot of parking but it's never usually that busy, but it's great for families for a day at the beach. You may even find some sea shells whilst your snorkeling. I would highly recommend a day at baby beach, but not sure if you can with the wild fires that devastated Lahaina 😓 I would chech first. I am super honoured to have been able to visit baby beach and Lahaina. Steve and Jacqui fae Fife."

"Awesome beach for calm water and snorkeling with the kids. Water is crystal clear and there are plenty of reefs to view fish close to the beach."

"Both week days and weekends we were there. Free beach access. Calm waters for kids and older people. Sandy beach with light waves. Snorkeling resulted in fish of different colors but not many. Saw a few sea turtles from this location no far off shore. Dogs on beach living their beat life with the families. Friendly and safe. Took 2 chairs and a cooler. Beautiful beach to relax and het a tan. No restrooms. No life quard. Free Parking along street. No beach parking lot. Had no problem with parking. Visited about 7 times on our month vacation."

It's a place where simple pleasures like building sandcastles and watching tiny fish dart by become cherished memories.
While the beach itself is a haven, it's important to note the practicalities. Parking is limited, and arriving early is crucial, especially during peak seasons. This means visitors must come prepared with all necessary supplies, including ample food, water, shade (like umbrellas or canopies), and any other comfort items for a full day of enjoyment.
Snorkeling and Wildlife at Baby Beach
The most celebrated wildlife encounter at Baby Beach is undoubtedly the sea turtles. Visitors frequently report sightings of Hawaiian Green Sea Turtles (Honu) gracefully swimming in the waters or basking near the shore. These encounters are a highlight for many, offering a chance to witness these magnificent creatures in their natural habitat. It's crucial to remember to observe them from a respectful distance and never touch or feed them, ensuring their well-being and the preservation of their environment.
While the snorkeling is generally good for novices, it's worth noting that the experience can be enhanced by visiting during calmer sea conditions. The presence of a Picasso triggerfish was also mentioned in one review, indicating a diverse range of marine inhabitants. For those looking for a more advanced snorkeling or diving experience, other locations on Maui might offer more challenging underwater landscapes, but for a relaxed and accessible introduction, Baby Beach is a solid choice.
