Unsafe visitor behavior forces closure, changes at Northern California state park β Upper Lake Clementine in Auburn State Recreation Area, 1 hr NE of Sacramento
"According to the Auburn SRA, cars are illegally parking along the roadway, drivers are making illegal U-turns in traffic and pedestrian are crossing on blind turns." They're just now noticing this?
Best (easy to intermediate) hiking trails within an hour drive of Sac?
Hike to Lake Clementine is nice (in Auburn). There's also Consumnes river Preserve in elk grove, Effie Yeaw Nature Center in Carmichael to name a few. Those are all on the easier side and usually nice hiking trails. Auburn has a lot that you can choose from in the same area.

Tire chains or 4WD recommended for winter conditions on the last part of the road.
North Fork Dam. Not technically Sacramento, but itβs a nice little hike from the bottom of Foresthill Bridge for any of my fellow Sacramentans in need of a little exercise.
I'm more familiar with this being called Lake Clementine Dam. Is that incorrect? Trailhead is off 49 just below Auburn, called the "Lake Clementine Trail." Easily findable on Google maps, was just there Friday!

What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Lake Clementine is praised for its tranquil waters and scenic views, particularly the Foresthill Bridge and dam waterfall. It's a great spot for a casual hike and water activities like paddleboarding. However, visitors should be aware of very limited parking and potential for wakes from larger boats.
"Solid hike, about 2.5 hrs round trip. The waterfall from the dam had a refreshing mist. Iβve been on more scenic and challenging hikes, this one felt more like a casual stroll but there was views of the river and Forrest hill bridge."

"It was a great time, decent place to paddle board but your out of the 5 mph zone for the majority of your trip so youβve really got to watch the wakes and not so nice boats who purposely try to make bigger wakes for you and spray you with water"
