What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors find Lake Josephine Scrub Preserve to be a wonderfully peaceful and remote natural escape, offering a genuine Florida scrub experience at a very low cost. While some note litter and a lack of facilities like restrooms, the abundant birdlife, unique ecosystem, and serene lake views make it a worthwhile destination for nature lovers seeking tranquility.
"A little bit out of the way makes this a quiet place. Stopped for a picnic lunch in the covered tables. Lots of birds, dragon flies, and butterflies. Also visited by a gopher tortoise who came out of the scrub, ate some leaves, and went back! Beautiful trees draped in Spanish moss."
Phil Evans
"It was very, very peaceful out there today. A couple people were enjoying the path and another couple was at the picnic table. We didn't see any animals, not even a bird! We did see litter at the lake and on the trail. May or may not visit it again one day. It costs only $2 to visit this little park area in some true Florida scrub."
Jennifer Corley
"If you are a nature freak and love exploring new places. This is a must. But be sure to come with a partner as there are bears π» in the park. They are most active during dusk and dawn. Bring bear spray if you go on the hiking trails. This place has a really nice view of the lake. One thing I didn't like was that at shore there where lots of mosquitoes (I went in August). It is so peaceful. There are a couple tables if you wish to have a picnic with family under shaded area."
