What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors praise Lake Winnebago for its excellent fishing, particularly walleye, and the excitement of the winter 'Battle on Bago' ice fishing tournament. The scenic beauty, especially sunsets from High Cliff State Park, is a major draw. Some note that water quality can decline in late summer, advising caution for swimmers.
"I love coming to Lake Winnebago and fishing the winter Battle on Bago. I fish it every year. My good buddy and I always camp out in our shack on Friday night. It’s always a challenge but always a great time. We didn’t win the Truck this year but we will be back next year for another chance. We almost always fish off of Brothertown Harbor. The local fishing club does a fantastic job of maintaining their ice road and bridges. If it weren’t for all these local fishing clubs, ice fishing on Lake Winnebago would be very difficult and very dangerous. I’m so thankful that they exist and I always make a point to buy a road pass to help support their cause."
